* At our age when mature dating reveal only one small part. Choose either to show legs or cleavage, not both at the same time.
* Sheer-look makeup is much more flattering on older skin than wearing both foundation and powder. Forget testing make-up on your wrist or hand. Try some of the make-up counters in the large department stores and ask them to try one or more of their sheer bases on your face. But be careful to look at it in the daylight, not under shop lights. With there help you should be able to make that all important impression on your first mature dating adventure.
* Blusher is very ageing - anything orange or bronze is really bad. The worst is orange or bronze as a hard line down the side of the face, girls it looks false. Go for the more contempory, pale pink blusher on the high points of your cheeks. Avoid harsh colours on eye-shadow, as well as sparkle, glitter or anything else that really belongs on the 70’s disco floor! Neutral beiges and browns applied lightly are much more flattering at our age.
* The easiest of all to update is lip colour. No strong blocks or colour, instead go for subtle lip-glosses - the ones you can buy that are pencil based - and go for colours like light brown, caramel, toffee or a dull pink.
Some of the worst mistakes older women can make on a first mature date are:
* See-through clothes
* Wearing the little black dress * Wearing red
Everyone that black suits everyone when on a senior date, but it should be worn carefully. Think about wearing black on the lower half of your body, if you are conscious about your hips and stomach black is great on that first mature date, or dark trousers. But on your top half be colourful!
Red is a really bad idea because men read red as, 'I'm up for sex tonight.' – stupid, but true This includes any bright red lipstick or red nail varnish. With nails, forget the long nails, the modern style is to have them shorter and filed to a square and French manicured, try it.
Hair
It's not called a ladies glory for nothing, splash out on at on a really good, expensive haircut at the best hairdresser you can afford in your area. It’s always an investment, hair that has been well cut into shape, stays good for far longer
* Avoid covering grey hair with a single colour on your first mature dating trip. Two colours blended are far more natural.
* Forget hair spray, older women tend to use it far too often, hair that can move is much sexier than static hair.
Men, it’s not just for the ladies to look good when mature dating!
*It's more flattering to get your hair cut very short than comb over style. If you're really bothered by a shortage of hair, why not go for the shaved head look, women love it!
*Logos on ties, fun cuff-links and cartoon socks as are all no-no's. They are not showing a sense of humour rather they show simple bad taste.
* When first trying mature dating, at least leave the gold chains off, until she tells you!
*Don't use too much aftershave. Women don't like it. If you've had a shower and used a good shower gel, a clean, fresh smell is much more sexy. |
